Lighting diagram for Music student
Using The online lighting diagram creator I have created the layout of how lights were set for my shoot with Keeley, I had the lights set to where I felt would brighten her face to the extent I wanted, I placed them in these spots to light the sides the client felt they wanted them, Keeley felt as if the lighting when it was far back and shining on her left side the most, made her nose look longer than it was so she wanted this changed, I simply moved the light forward took a test shot and she was happy with the way it then looked. This lighting and the way it was set out really had a big effect on my images and im glad I placed them where i did, the Honeycomb lights really helped get the light right where I needed it and I am overly pleased with the result i have got from using them.

Pre Prod - Keeley photoshoot
These images have helped me to think about my lighting set up for my studio shoot, the images show the correct places to light and what it will show off. It shows what the light will highlight and in which areas, I want to make my clients eyes bright and shine thee images have helped me understand how to do this.

Client Consultation - Keeley.
When meeting up with my Vocalist Client Keeley, we discussed what sort of photo's and what kind of look she is trying too achieve. She said she would like "A simple look" with a "glamorous feel" thankfully I had already had the same idea, we will try to achieve this simple, elegant and glamourous look whilst still representing her vocals and what she loves too do. I have had the idea to use a microphone stand and mic in the studio shoot to represent what she does.
We are still to decided where abouts we will do our location shots, Depending on whether the client comes up with an idea before our next meeting I was thinking of shooting our location in Chantry Park, there are a lot of places in the park where I can achieve beautiful simple shots with both the scenery and steps etc.
Keeley mentioned clothing wise she has planned to rent a dress to wear, with this we could give off a lost princess kind of theme? there is a lot we have planned to do and what we can make work both in the studio and on location.

Location shoot
Location shoot - for the Location shoot with Keeley Im going to stick with the Glamourous theme she has asked for, I feel simple glamourised shots can be achieved outdoors just as well as inside, taking inspiration from these images I hope too achieve the type of images both glamourous yet soft and simple.
Studio Shoot
Studio Shoot
For my Studio shoot with Vocalist Keeley I have found images similar to what she described she wished for, she wants a simple, glamorous shoot. When looking for the images I thought of shots I myself could achieve with this Vocalist and people she maybe similar too looks and personailty wise. I love the way Katy Perry is shot in her Glamorous shoots I've taken alot of inspiration from her shots.

Cover #3
Cover 3
again done in photoshop, with this cover I have included an image with characters, although still sticking to not show appearences. I have again gone for the orange scheme with white text to match it up.
this image on the cover gives off the story line of there being a bunch of boys as the image shows so the audience will realise this about the story from the cover and again you can tell it is not light hearted. I am pleased with this cover as I feel it has a professional look to it
Outsiders cover #2
Cover 2
This cover uses plenty of colour and still doesnt give away any part of the stories. Ive taken an image and changed the colour and added extra leaves leaving the tree, I liked this image as I felt the leaves leaving the tree symbolise sadness and emptiness relating to the story itself. Using the Puffin template the cover comes across as a bright story which may attract the target audience of the younger generation. although I am pleased with the outcome of this cover I prefer the forst cover overall.
The Outsiders Book cover
Using photoshop I created a book cover for the Puffin story The Outsiders by S.E Hinton.
I've gone with a colour scheme of black, white, grey and orange, Ive chosen these colours because I was planning to use just black and white to back up the darkness of the story but felt the use of a bold colour made it stand out. Still using the Puffin layout I placed an image I had taken which used no faces or characters just simply using an image that gives nothing away about the story, yet it gives off indication it is not a light hearted story. Im pleased with the outcome of my first cover if I were to change it I wouldnt use a photo image for the cover.

Book - The Outsiders
These are some of the covers for the book version of 'The Outsiders' the top image is my favourite of the covers, In my opinion using silohuettes instead of characters and their faces gives out more mystery and also the dark element to this story. The other covers are good but Im not too keen on the drawn kind or showing the gang as characters because myself when reading a book I like to imagine the characters myself, with the book with characters on already it gives you the image of them already. For my book cover I think I will take inspiration from the top cover as its clever and doesnt give too much away to the reader.

Evaluation ED2 Assignment one (book of face)
Evaluation - Book of face
For the final image Produced I used a Pentax K1000, we went into Alexandra park and took photos on the way, the image I edited for my final was of Kate Carter, as we were walking and talking I was just taking photos of her and was pleased with some of the outcoming photos.
After shooting in the park as a pair myself and Kate developed the film and then went into the dark room, we tried out our images on test strips to set the perfect times for a c
lear image, we felt the need to do this because we didnt know how well the image would come out,
others had come out completely black for example. in the end we realised if we set the light timer to 5 seconds we were recieving the best result in that time, so for our finals we decided to expose the image and light for this amount of time and as a result we got the quality of image we were aiming for. once we had exposed the light and images onto photo paper we placed the image in the fix and wash and then later went onto put them throught the dryer.
The image I chose for my final image I chose because of how clear and crisp the image was I loved it. the project was to have self portraiting images but unfortunately my self portraiting images were lost so I just went along and used one of Kate that we had taken.
I scanned in the images and put them into photoshop for the next stage toward the final edit, when researching into photographers before I'd noticed some of the black and white images I saw had a colourful tint to them especially the work of Adeline Mae it gave a different kind of look so when editing I placed a soft purple/pink filter in the image which gave it a different look tojust block black and white. I was pleased with the final edit, how crisp and clear it was and also the colour.

Melania Brescia
Melania Brescia
"A Breath of fresh air with her highly intimate work full of life and emotion."
From Malaga, Spain this 20 year old creates such outstanding pieces of work.
When researching into her work she has lots of magazine work been and coming her way.
after researching as much as i could I couldnt find much information on this Young Photographer which frustrated me! Her work is so unique and inspiring hopefully more of her work will be discovered.
Vivian Maier
Vivian Maier
(Feb 1st 1926 - April 21st 2009)
"A free spirit but also a proud soul"
Simply a Nanny in New York Vivian Maier's photographic work was discovered in 2007 when a box of negatives were auctioned off, negative images taken by Vivian throughout her lifetime, images of herself, the children she looked after and stunning images of the city she lived in.
Secretly stashing these images throughout her life these images all show you how she saw things, when researching there was an image with the caption "Just because it's there" which shows the understanding of her photos, they are what she saw, just because it was there, its almost like you can see the process, like she would see an image and have to snap it. Her work all black and white shows old school NYC how you would imagine it to be. When Vivian Maier passed she left a body of work leaving over 100,000 negative images. "Someone who was intensely guarded and private" This wonder to photography now has exhibitions, events a book and even a film behind her.
I myself love her photographs, so individual, creative and special. I love the way she wasnt even doing it as her job, as she was a nanny it was just her hobby, In my opinion her story and her images are simply amazing.

My smiles, My laughs, My best moments. They're all created and watched by the people most important to me.
Self Portrait 2
If you were Something?
If you were something what would you be? Something soft and delicate with a strong element? Something tough and painful? what?
Self Portrait 1
Family is you.
Family makes you up to be all you ever are, They're you, you are them. Whether you love it or hate it, its the fact that will always remain.
Me and my Cousin Hope.
500 Photographers - Matt Stuart
Matt Stuart
Matt Stuart, an English Street Photographer has been shooting on the streets for 18 years, he says " I am not sure which comes first being nosey or an interest in street photography, but a fascination with people and the way they live their lives is why I enjoy the business so much." His work caught my eye because it made me smile when I came across it, his images are so random, comical and original its almost amazing. Again this photographer does not edit his images with the same colours and effects although each image is quite strongly contrasted and bold, you would know this photographers work when seen. The images I chose, I chose because again they made me smile, the originality in them makes the image. Matt Stuart's work is all about 'In the right place at the right time' that is a definite.
Chloe Aftel -
Music Videos, Commercial Advertising, Fashion and Portraits, just four of the many things this Photographer shoots. I have chosen Chloe Aftel out of the 500 Photographers because I love the way her work is soft and creative. Aftel shoots many stills and motion photographs, she has done work for many famous brands including Google, Vogue, Elle, Levi's, Marie Claire and many more.
The Photographs I have chosen of hers I chose because, well because I like them, I like the way they all appear to have a story behind them like they were all taken from a film or Music Video. They are each very different showing the women in different ways. Compared to Adeline Mai which I mentioned how she has a very distinctive way of editing and taking her photographs, how you know all of them are hers as she has a certain style in my opinion Chloe Aftel's work isn't like that, they don't each have the same editing effects or the same set out, each are individual and have their own personality. The lighting and colour is also different in each photo, for example the image of the woman smoking uses natural light reflecting right onto her making it clear where the light is from where as the first image of the girl walking doesn't have obvious lighting, it isn't overly bright and you cannot really see where the light is coming from.Chloe Aftel's creativity is something i admire in these images especially the way she has used two of the women in the first is different and catches the eye.
